Recipe? (Strawberry and Orange Curd)
I have this book.
And I love it!
The recipes, the old photographs, and of course the recipes!
There is one in here that I haven’t tried yet ,but I think I might.
Strawberry and Orange Curd:
8oz (225g) strawberries 12oz (350g) caster sugar
Grated rind and juice of 1 orange 4 eggs
4oz (125g) unsalted butter
Hull the strawberries (cut the top bit out) and make sure the berries are clean. Put them in a basin and mash wth a fork. Add orange rind and juice, followed by butter (cut into small pieces), and sugar. Beat eggs well and add to basin. Place over a saucepan of simmering water, or use a double boiler and stir until sugar is dissolved. Continue to cook until mixture thickens, stirring frequently. This will take approx. 30 mins. Pour into warm jars and cover like it’s jam.
Apparently it’s used in something called a Victoria sandwich with or without cream, and will only keep for a month unless you put it in the fridge (then it’ll last 3 months).
With the berries I still have frozen from the garden I don’t quite make the 225g needed, but there are a few still in the garden that will be ripe soon.
I’ll have to buy an orange though. =)

We know we need to eat more vegetables. The challenge is to do it with flavor and variety. So we’ve become creative. (via Kitchen Window: Even Your Mother Will Approve Of Vegetable Chips)

Traditional kitchen by Lake Country Builders…
As I reflect on the food photography workshop from the past weekend, I am still in awe of how much everyone accomplished and improved in their work. The critique at the end was enlightening and I was impressed with how the same food was used in the shots but they all looked very different. Here are a few of my photos of the food that I made for the workshop…. recipes will be coming soon.
PS I would love for the comments and critiques to continue. Fee free to comment or post your pics here if you attended the class. Oh, there will be another workshop happening soon in Brooklyn, NY in the next month or so! wooh!
i love your choice of backgrounds and utensils, i love the used and ragged look, has a little wabi-sabi over it..
